The principle of responsibility to protect emerged in 2001, gaining prominence through the Evans Shaloum report and further solidified in 2005. This study highlights the international community's obligation to aid populations in humanitarian crises, exemplified by the ongoing situation in Syria since 2011. Despite efforts led by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to find effective solutions, the principle faces challenges in adequately addressing the complexities of protecting vulnerable individuals in distress.
