The Thaumaturge of Providence

Set in the impoverished and diverse ward eleven of Providence, Rhode Island, the story unfolds against the backdrop of the impending year 2000. Local politics are entangled with a secret society of heroin dealers and a doomsday cult from the Dominican Republic. City Council candidate Hector Lucian, facing scrutiny over his past, may jeopardize his anticipated victory. Meanwhile, cab driver Leonardo Santoro becomes his only ally, and Brown University student Eli Silverman investigates Lucian's enigmatic history, intertwining their fates in a tense political landscape.
