Frances Burney, also known as Fanny Burney, was a prominent English novelist and playwright whose career spanned several decades. Notably, she served as "Keeper of the Robes" to Queen Charlotte and married a French exile later in life. Her debut novel, Evelina, released in 1778, achieved significant acclaim and remains her most celebrated work. Despite many of her plays not being performed during her lifetime, her extensive writings, including a memoir of her father and numerous letters, continue to be published and appreciated today.
