Edith Nesbit, an influential English author and poet, created a new genre of magical adventures set in everyday life, captivating young readers with over 60 works of children's fiction. Her stories are celebrated for their entertainment value, often avoiding didacticism, though some earlier titles, like Five Children and It and The Story of the Amulet, contain moral lessons. In addition to her literary contributions, she was a political activist and co-founder of the Fabian Society, which laid groundwork for the modern Labour Party.
