Set against the backdrop of the wild western frontier, the story follows Jedidiah Bracket, known as the Crow Killer, who is celebrated by the Arapaho tribe. After achieving the esteemed title of Lance Bearer, he seeks peace in a secluded valley with his family. However, tragedy strikes when the Pawnee leader, Strong Otter, attacks and kills the Arapaho chief and his son. The tribe turns to Jedidiah once again, urging him to reclaim his warrior spirit and seek justice for the fallen, highlighting themes of honor, duty, and vengeance.
