More about the book
The narrative chronicles the migration of Feylis Kurds from the Iran-Iraq border to urban centers like Baghdad in the nineteenth century, where they became prominent traders due to their strategic location along key trade routes. Following the 1948 establishment of Israel, they filled the void left by departing Jewish merchants, rising to economic prominence while controlling major markets. However, despite their success, they faced discrimination and were often categorized as Persians, complicating their quest for Iraqi nationality under the 1924 Nationality Law.
