More about the book
The early reign of Mohammad Reza Shah was marked by political instability and foreign occupation, particularly by the Allies and Soviet influences. Amid corruption and inefficiency under Prime Minister Ali Mansur, the Shah faced challenges in restoring his dynasty's legitimacy and military strength. Iran developed a unified military during the late Qajar dynasty and, post-1953 coup, began acquiring Western weaponry while striving for an independent arms industry. However, following the 1979 revolution, relations with the U.S. soured, leading to sanctions and an arms embargo.
