More about the book
The Solomon Islands, an archipelagic state in the southwest Pacific, consists of around 1,000 islands with a diverse population of approximately 599,500 people, predominantly Melanesian. The capital, Honiara, is on Guadalcanal, the largest island. The region is rich in linguistic diversity, featuring 63 distinct languages, with English as the official language. European contact began in 1568, leading to whaling and trading activities in the 19th century, followed by the establishment of a UK protectorate in 1893 over the eastern islands.
