Set in the divided city of Beulah, the story follows seventeen-year-old Ellio, who resides in the impoverished Downs district. Despite his remarkable talent for working with machines, he struggles against the oppressive class system that confines him to his circumstances. The narrative explores themes of privilege, poverty, and the quest for freedom within a society that limits opportunities based on social status.
