Set against the vibrant backdrop of New York City, the story follows Melanie Deming, a witty amateur sleuth navigating the stark contrasts between opulent Park Avenue and gritty soup kitchens. After discovering the body of her beautiful co-worker, Melanie, a germaphobic writer, is driven to seek justice despite her fears. As she becomes entangled with a charming journalist interested in her story—and possibly more—she risks her marriage and her life while pursuing a dangerous killer who is now after her.
