Excerpt from The Homeric Centones and the Acts of PilateBeen lying by me for several years, in the hope that I might find it possible to complete and correct the investigation by a study of the mss. Involved. But no such opportunity as I desired has presented itself, and it has occurred to me that the publication of this imperfect dissertation might enable some other student to pursue more successfully an enquiry, my own share in Which I can only describe as preliminary and tentative.
