More about the book

Those who knew Tom Wark might be expecting to be reading his hilarious stories - sanity-saving ambulance humour, really - about his experiences as a police officer in his own home town that was also his mother's home town, her parents' home town, and the town that his paternal grandmother immigrated to from Derry, Ireland. They might be disappointed. When he and I set up his original memoirs back in 2002, I asked him why he wasn't including all those "rookie cop" stories that he told at family gatherings and when visitors were over. He replied, "Those were very personal stories about other people. I don't feel I have a right to them." That was my dad. Integrity to the nth degree. There is no absence of Tom Wark in this, *His History and His Times*. Not at all. The humour is there, as is the Tom Wark we knew and loved.-Sherrill Wark, eldest
