More about the book
FROM THE INTRODUCTION: Born out of frustration with Hollywood blockbusters of the late 1990s, Dogme 95 was a Danish movement that sought to bring filmmaking back to the basics. Focusing on filmic fundamentals, like storytelling and human interaction, Lars von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg, Kristian Levring, and Søren Kraugh-Jacobsen successfully pioneered a movement that put tiny Denmark on the map in terms of cinema. Though a small and short-lived movement in terms of the films certified, the influence of the original concept and underlying philosophy of Dogme 95 can be seen in other cinematic movements that followed.
