Faced with the reality that she is dying from cancer, Victoria is confronted with the choice of telling her daughter and husband the deep, dark secret she has hidden for thirty years. While working in an abortion clinic, Victoria encounters an expectant mother who is near hysteria, exclaiming that she wishes her unborn child were dead. Realizing the mother has no means to care for herself or a newborn, Victoria decides the young woman does not have to worry about a child she does not want. Victoria gives the mother something to relax her, and a beautiful baby girl is born. When the mother comes to, Victoria explains that her baby has been stillborn and is no longer a problem. Relieved, the mother leaves the clinic and moves on with her life. Victoria claims the baby girl as her own. Unbeknownst to Victoria, the events of the evening have been caught on tape. Claiming to be sick, Victoria never returns to the clinic and moves to DC, where she marries a prominent lawyer and raises Mary as their own. Later, Victoria is confronted by the birth mother, who claims Victoria stole her baby. Victoria continues to lie, insisting that the woman's child died in childbirth and that her child was a male. How will Victoria's life end? Will she take her lie to her grave, or will she explain to her daughter, husband, or best friend what she did out of love for her beautiful Mary?
