More about the book
Narrative version of the War at Sea, (the maps, tables and appendices are removed) , the definitive account of the naval battles, both British and American, involved in WW2. No account is wider in scope or as detailled. Morisons 'History of US Naval Operations in WW2' is more informative of US operations, but does not give global or strategic overview of this history. Required reading for anyone interested in WWII or naval strategy. This particular volume covers the invasion of Sicily, Salerno, and Anzio, the sea battles around the Solomons and Gilberts, the sinking of the Scharnhorst, the 'Great Marianas Turkey Shoot' and numerous convoy battles
