This is a post apocalyptic short story. It's been four years since the big freeze. The criminals that survived became slave traders, and those on the outside are now the hunted. Wastelanders no longer accept new people into their groups. Charlie's group left her almost a year ago. She's an expert scavenger. The only time she talks is when she's cursing out loud while trying to stay hidden during the slave trader's monthly rounds. Now she has a new reason to speak, and they are camped out between her lively hood and her sanctuary.
