The is is about a young African American man name Jeffery "Popeye" Ross experience during WWII. When the U.S. entered war after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. At first he didn't want to get involved with war, but when he got his teen girlfriend pregnant and feeling the pressure from other people he decided to join the Army.
