Growing up in a small Connecticut town in the 1980s, Jan Radder was a misfit kid who thought he had nothing to live for, nowhere to fit in, and no one who understood. That all changed when he heard the angry howl of buzzsaw guitars and the voiced rage of a screaming singer and saw his own face reflected back. That something like punk could exist-music that sounded as different as he felt-gave him the hope that perhaps there was a place for him and a way he could finally be himself. Over the next four years he would get a job as a production assistant on a cult horror film, start a punk band, and finally find the courage to no longer care what anyone else thought of him.
