In his author's note, Vonnegut assures us that these memoirs of a one-eyed Armenian form a hoax autobiography and should not be taken as "a responsible history of the Abstract Expressionist school of painting... It is a history of nothing but my own idiosyncratic responses to this or that." Much of the "this or that" are the grotesque prices paid for such works this century and the mudpies of art.
