More about the book
The future of theological education in Central and Eastern Europe is uncertain. Since the fall of Communism at the turn of the last decade of the 1900s, the advancement of theological education in these regions has been remarkable. Much has been accomplished to provide theological and ministry training for the next generation of leaders for the church. Educators have served faithfully and courageously. And yet, after nearly 25 years, the vitality of theological education is tenuous. Enrollment in most institutions is trending downward. Concern among evangelical leaders about the future viability and relevance of current forms of theological education is growing. Educators are increasingly puzzled by the difficulty of drawing and retaining high quality students. In many regions, there is a growing sense of crisis both for the theological institution as well as for the church in regards to building and equipping the theological foundation of its future leadership. This report is a glimpse of the state of theological education through the eyes of those close to or embedded in it. We set out to discover how people are thinking about theological education, and what might be possible for the future.
