This is a famous classic in Sri Lankan cookery history. First written in 1929, and published in 1930 by Miss Hilda Deutrom, might be titled East meets west, due to the Islands position on the highways of world trade, as mirrored in the variety and the range of the recipes in it's pages. Over the years new editions were produced, growing to over 1600 recipes by the time the 5th edition was published in 1968 this had become a National treasure, recording a wide range of unique and authentic Ceylonese cuisine.
