Roman Dmowski Book order
August 9, 1864 – January 2, 1939
Roman Dmowski was a pivotal figure in Polish nationalism and the chief ideologue of the National Democracy movement. His political thought was deeply concerned with safeguarding Polish culture against Germanization, leading him to adopt a pragmatic stance towards the Russian Empire. Dmowski advocated for the restoration of Polish independence through nonviolent means and championed policies beneficial to the Polish middle class. His vision of a homogenous, Polish-speaking, Roman Catholic nation contrasted with ideas of a multi-ethnic Poland, which resulted in the marginalization of minority groups. Though he never held significant political power, his influence on the Polish political landscape was profound.
