A Disappearance in Fiji

Set in 1914 Fiji, the story follows 25-year-old police sergeant Akal Singh, who feels out of place in the tropical paradise after being sent there as punishment for a past mistake. Desperate to redeem himself and return to Hong Kong, he sees a chance when an Indian woman goes missing from a sugarcane plantation, prompting a media frenzy over potential kidnapping. Despite being instructed to treat the case as a mere formality, Akal is determined to prove his worth and solve the mystery, navigating his feelings of loneliness and humiliation along the way.
