A prominent figure in Bengali literature and music, Tagore was a multifaceted artist who transformed Indian art through Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Known for his deeply moving and lyrical work in "Gitanjali," he made history as the first non-European Nobel Prize laureate in Literature in 1913. While his poetic songs are celebrated for their spiritual essence, much of his elegant prose and enchanting poetry remains lesser-known beyond Bengal, earning him the title "the Bard of Bengal."
