James Edward Talmage was a notable English chemist, geologist, and religious leader, recognized for his contributions to both science and the LDS Church. Serving as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from 1911 until his death, he also held academic positions at Brigham Young Academy and the University of Utah. Talmage authored influential religious texts, including "Jesus the Christ" and "Articles of Faith," which continue to be regarded as classics in Mormon literature. He believed in the harmony between science and faith.
